How to Cancel Your
iCloud Subscription

Before you cancel
You need to get your iCloud usage under 5 GB first. If you cancel while over 5 GB, Apple will stop syncing and you may lose access to files stored only in iCloud.
- Download your photos — Open Photos, go to Settings > iCloud > "Download Originals to this Mac"
- Move files locally — Copy anything important from iCloud Drive to a local folder
- Delete old backups — System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage > Backups
- Clean junk — Remove node_modules, caches, and archives from iCloud-synced folders
How to cancel
- Open System Settings
- Click your Apple ID at the top
- Click iCloud
- Click Manage Plan (or "Change Storage Plan")
- Click Downgrade Options
- Select the Free 5 GB plan
- Confirm the downgrade
