iCloud Storage on Mac

Your Mac is the best tool for clearing iCloud storage because you can see everything that is synced and delete it directly. Here is the fastest way to do it.

Quick method (5 minutes)

1. Open Finder
2. Click iCloud Drive in the sidebar
3. Sort by size (View > Show View Options > Sort by Size)
4. Delete the largest items you do not need
5. Empty Trash (Finder > Empty Trash)

Deep clean method

1. Find hidden junk — Open Terminal and run: du -sh ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/*/ to see iCloud Drive folder sizes.
2. Find node_modules — Run: find ~/Desktop ~/Documents -name "node_modules" -type d
3. Find large files — Run: find ~/Desktop ~/Documents -type f -size +50M
4. Delete backups — System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage > Backups
5. Handle Photos — Download originals first, then disable iCloud Photos

Verify it worked

After cleaning, check System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud. The storage bar should update within a few minutes. Note: iCloud storage updates are not instant — it can take up to 24 hours for the number to fully reflect deletions.
