iCloud Storage on Mac

- Open Finder
- Click iCloud Drive in the sidebar
- Sort by size (View > Show View Options > Sort by Size)
- Delete the largest items you do not need
- Empty Trash (Finder > Empty Trash)
Deep clean method
- Find hidden junk — Open Terminal and run:
du -sh ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/*/to see iCloud Drive folder sizes. - Find node_modules — Run:
find ~/Desktop ~/Documents -name "node_modules" -type d - Find large files — Run:
find ~/Desktop ~/Documents -type f -size +50M - Delete backups — System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage > Backups
- Handle Photos — Download originals first, then disable iCloud Photos
Verify it worked
After cleaning, check System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud. The storage bar should update within a few minutes. Note: iCloud storage updates are not instant — it can take up to 24 hours for the number to fully reflect deletions.
